It seems Lufthansa is extending its Allegris rollout, this time adding Shanghai to its roster.
The first service to China with Lufthanas’s new cabin took off on the 14th August, operating the Munich to Shanghai flight,
The rollout has been slow so far, with North America being the initial focus of the Allegris rollout, with Vancouver, Toronto and Chicago seeing flights from Munich with the product onboard.
Thus, Shanghai becomes the fourth Allegris destination worldwide and the first one in Asia.
For those who have been out of the loop, “Lufthansa Allegris”, is the new cabin concept for long-haul travel for the airline, which applies to the whole cabin – Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, all with different varieties of configurations
The current Allegris rollout has been focused on Lufthansa’s Munich hub, with the Airbus A350-900 being delivered with the new product.
It consists of 38 seats including 8 suites in Business Class, 24 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 201 seats including 22 seats with more legroom in Economy Class.

Jens Ritter, CEO Lufthansa Airlines said:
“We are thrilled to introduce the Allegris products to Shanghai and convinced that they will meet the needs of various Chinese passengers. Every guest has their own understanding of premium. This is why with the Allegris range we focus on maximum individuality and exclusivity and premium service along the entire travel chain.”
“Shanghai is currently the first Allegris destination in Asia. We aim to further enhance the customer experience onboard and strengthen our leading position on China-Europe route.”
Postive Feedback so far…
According to Lufthansa, after three and half months since the introduction of Allegris to North American routes, customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Travelers in all classes are very satisfied with the new cabin product. In Business Class, up to 97 per cent rate the flight with Allegris as better than before.
We are however in the early days of the Allegris Rollout – and monetisation is coming fast. With certain seats being Business Class Suites, the Extra Space Seats, the Privacy Seats by the window and the Extra Long Beds, Lufthansa will seek to capitalise on extracting as much revenue as possible.
Also, you’ll note that the current Allegris aircraft are three-class only – with First Class seats currently not installed.
Whilst it’s good to see these new products rolling out, the Allegris vision is still incomplete…
