Brussels Airlines adjust capacity on its network for winter

18/09/2024 by Kevincm

Like many airlines, Brussels Airlines is also adjusting its capacity for the winter period. It plans to add a new destination, scale up frequencies to the sun in Southern Europe, and add capacity to West Africa.

Let’s dive into the changes.

Short Haul

With winter looming, the sun is always a good thing. Brussels Airlines (along with some tour operators), will offer one weekly flight on Sunday to Fuerteventura (Spain). This brings the total of Canary Islands destinations in its portfolio to four.

Furthermore, both Athens (Greece) and Krakow (Poland) will be scheduled year-round, with respectively four and three weekly connections.  Increased frequencies will be offered for several destinations such as Faro, Lisbon and Porto (Portugal) or Alicante, Malaga and Valencia, (Spain), for that bit of sun in your life

For those who want to enjoy the city that Economy Class and Beyond calls home, Brussels Airliens will return to Birmingham in the United Kingdom, offering six flights a week between the Belgian capital and the second city of the United Kingdom

Long Haul

Since the introduction of the 10th long-haul Airbus A330 aircraft in June of this year, the Belgian carrier has to grow its presence on the African continent. This expansion will continue as three additional long-haul aircraft will join the fleet in the coming years.

But as it’s winter, capacity will shift across the African network.

During Winter 2024-2025, Brussels Airlines will operate tp Nairobi (Kenya) four times per week. The carrier will also add additional weekly flights to Conakry (Guinea), Freetown (Sierra Leone) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) between October and March

A busy winter ahead

With any season, there’s always a rebalance of the network to take advantage of opportunities as they arise – be they near or far. Brussels Airliens has chosen to focus on the sun, cities and its long-haul network to deliver revenue over the winter.

For those needing those destinations, they should provide some interesting destinations.
