It seems that Delta Air Lines is preparing for a big Summer 2025, with the airline planning new destinations and frequencies for the season.
The airline is planning over 700 weekly flights from its hubs of New York-JFK, Boston, Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detriot to 33 European destinations.
Here’s an infographic of what they plan to add:
Let us dive in a little deeper
Italy
Italy is a big spotlight on the Delta timetable for summer 2025, with the airline boosting its service by 10%, and introducing Catania to the Delta network with a New York-JFK to Catania service starting in May 2025.
Also in May 2025, Delta will launch a four-times-weekly service from Atlanta to Naples. This route will complement Delta’s existing New York-JFK route.
Rome gains capacity, with Delta adding four weekly flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Rome starting in May 2025, linking its second-largest hub to one of the most sought-after European destinations.
With Minneapolis-St. Paul joining Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and New York-JFK, Delta will offer direct service to Rome from five U.S. hubs.
For those who prefer Milan, Delta will launch four weekly flights from Boston to Milan in May 2025. This route complements Delta’s existing Milan service from New York-JFK and Atlanta.
Delta is also boosting its global network with new services across Europe, including
- a three-times-a-week Boston to Barcelona service
- a four-times-weekly Detroit to Dubin service
- A three-times-weekly Atlanta to Brussels service
Extra routes will run from both Atlanta and Detroit, With four additional weekly flights to Athens, bringing the total to 11. Travelers can also enjoy three extra weekly flights to both Barcelona and Rome, for a total of 10 and 17 respectively, or opt for daily service to Zurich for the ultimate Swiss
In Detroit, Delta is increasing its service to Munich to daily flights.
To support these new services, the airline an increased number of flights will see new equipment being used – such as the Airbus A330-900neo and Airbus A350-900, featuring the latest generation of seating onboard, with Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin options.

Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President – Network Planning said on the launch
“With over 700 weekly flights to 33 European destinations and beyond, we’re expanding access to key cities like Barcelona and Dublin with new routes, while introducing our first-ever nonstop service to Catania, Sicily,”
“We’ve also recently opened a stunning Delta One Lounge at JFK, with more to come at LAX, BOS, and SEA. Alongside the rollout of free international Wi-Fi and increased premium seating across our fleet, we’re ensuring our customers enjoy the best in connectivity and comfort from the moment they arrive at the airport to when they touch down.”
Familiar destinations – new city pairs
It seems Delta is boosting its network capacity a lot across the Atlantic, with new destinations and routes to fill in gaps and markets in the network. With a lot of the network spinning up in time for the holiday season, it should aid those who are planning holidays or escapees, as well as business travellers who need direct access between regions, thus reducing transfers and hops.
With the airline sending some of its newest aircraft, it will be targeting the premium market too – be it via direct sales or through its Delta Vacations subsidiary.
Like any seasonal route – performance will be key to its long-term survival. We’ll have to look in a year to see what made the cut…
