Cathay Pacific is expanding its North American network with the launch of non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
It will mark the first time time the route pair has been served.
The new service, scheduled to commence on 24 April 2025, marks Cathay Pacific’s sixth passenger destination in the United States and eighth in North America, further reinforcing the airline’s presence on the continent while bolstering the global connectivity of its home hub, Hong Kong.
The airline plans to operate the following timetable to Dallas:
CX898 DEPART HKG 16:05 ARRIVE DFW 17:55 CX897 DEPART DFW 23:55 ARRIVE HKG 05:05+2 Commences: 24 April 2025 Operates: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday in both directions Booked Equipment: Airbus A350-1000
Cathay Pacific will operate an Airbus A350-1000 on this route, configured with 46 Business Class, 32 Premium Economy and 256 Economy Class seats. The route will also complement the cargo operation that Cathay Cargo flies (via Anchorage).
Currently, Cathay Pacific operates 88 return passenger flights per week to destinations in North America, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
But more in 2025…
Cathay Pacific is also increasing frequencies for its North American passenger services in 2025.
By May, the airline will be operating 108 return flights per week (up by 20 across the North American network). Aside from the new Dallas service, this will include three return flights per day to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles respectively, and a daily return flight to both Boston and Chicago.
Cathay Pacific also continues to increase flights on its services to Canada, with two daily return flights to Vancouver and 13 return flights per week to Toronto.
In quotes:
“With our unique position of having deep roots in Hong Kong, being proudly part of China, and connecting the world, Cathay continues to build Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub that connects people to the most exciting places in the world.
“Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is one of the world’s busiest airports. With our Cathay Pacific codeshares as well as other flight options, customers can connect to over 190 domestic destinations in the United States, as well as 11 destinations in Central and South America via DFW, further enhancing Hong Kong’s connectivity with North America and important Belt and Road Initiative participating countries.”
A busy 2025 ahead
Cathay Pacific was one of the airlines that have taken time to recover from the events of the past few years – so it is good to see the airline increase its connectivity for 2025 as it seeks to grow its network, especially with a new long-haul destination.
The airline has a reasonable commitment to the route – with a service flying four times a week. For those who seek connectivity, Dallas-Fort Worth is home to an American Airline “Fortress Hub” – allowing a lot of connectivity to and from the service.
Time will tell if Cathay Pacific can convert this service from a four-times-a-week to a full daily service.
