Qatar Airways is expanding its network again, with the airline planning to head to Toronto, Canada.
Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300ER – Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
The new service will commence on the 11th of December 2024, operating three-times weekly.
Planned operations are as follows:
QR767 DEPART DOH 09:50 ARRIVE YYZ 15:55 QR768 DEPART YYZ 20:00 ARRIVE DOH 16:30 Commences 11th December 2024 Operates three days a week Operates Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays Booked Equipment: Boeing 777-300ER
The route will mark Toronto as the airline’s fourteenth gateway to the Americas, joining the service operated to Montreal (which is served by a daily service).
Qatar Airways will deploy a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on this, equipped with 42 Qsuite Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats.
In terms of timings, the new Toronto service will provide travellers from Canada and beyond with seamless access to destinations across Qatar Airways’ extensive global network, including Colombo, Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, and Mumbai, thus avoiding a stop in London or the USA to change to a oneworld partner (or going via Montreal to meet the daily service).
Ticketing for the route is open via Qatar Airways site and the usual travel agents.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said:
“The Toronto route is a strong and enduring commitment towards providing Qatar Airways’ Canadian customers with the enhanced connectivity they deserve, as well as access to our world-leading service and Qsuite in-flight product.
“The addition of a fourteenth gateway to our Americas network is also a testament to our aim in maintaining a key presence across the local market, and cements our reputation as a reliable global connector.”
Expanding the Canadian map
Toronto has been on and off the Qatar Airways network – with it on stream for a while during the pandemic, before falling off again.
It seems that the city is now popular enough (or there’s enough connecting traffic) to justify the placement of back on the network – even if its just three days a week of operation.
I strongly suspect Qatar Airways would be very interested in a daily service – but they’re going to have to build up traffic and demand on the route first before that dream becomes a reality.
Given that Toronto supports a daily service to Dubai with an Emirates A380 and Etihad sends an Airbus A350-1000, there certainly is the opportunity for traffic (be it connecting or otherwise).
For now, the airline has a starting point in Toronto.

When do you expect we’ll be able to book this route? I have travel plans next fall so a YYZ – DOH route would be save me from going to Montreal.
