Time for another Snapshot, this time focusing on a “new to me” property – the Holiday Inn/Staybridge Suites in Rosemont, near Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
I’m sure you know how I do this travel writing thing by now. But for those reading this for the first time, I have two major travel writing styles: We’re on Snapshots for the next few days whilst I wrangle the trip report from a random collection of written chapters and bad spelling, into a cohesive easy to digest whilst the world laughs at me.
Booking
I paid an Advance rate of £112 for a night in mid-October via the IHG site directly – this included a small discount for being an IHG member. There were various options for rooms, with one set of rooms guaranteeing a view over the airport.
Location
This hotel is on the Manhaim Road, near the All-State Arena in Rosemont/Des Plains. It’s next to a Portilos Hot Dogs, and opposite a McDonalds if you dared to risk the 10 lanes of traffic.

It’s just a little north of the O’Hare complex for those who like to watch aircraft.
It’s connected via a Shuttle Bus to O’Hare Airport and is within reach of O’Hare Transfer/O’Hare Multi-Modal Facility.
The property
This property is a little different to some I’ve stayed in, as it combines both Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites into one building. In this property, typically Staybridge Suites customers stayed on the left-hand side of the lifts, whilst Holiday Inn customers stayed on the right-hand side of the lifts
Check-In
Both the Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites utilised the same check-in desk. An early check-in was permitted by the staff for the room. As an IHG Elite, I was offered a benefit of 600 points – which was taken.
On the ground floor, there was a gym, restaurant and cafe, as well as lots of open seating space.
The Room
The room is very modern indeed, with a king-sized bed dominating the room. This also had a sofa in the top left corner, and decent sized glass-top workbench The bed itself was firm, yet very comfortable to sleep on, allowing for more than a good snooze, as well as responding to emails first thing in the morning.
Power sockets at bed – Mains and USB-A outlets.
There were more than adequate storage facilities, as well as an iron and ironing board.
As for the bathroom was clean and modern, featuring a shower, sink, toilet and Dove amenities.
Air conditioning controls were easy to find and manipulate.
The only issue was the TV, which failed to pick up any channels after a restart or two.
The views
As promised, the room also had a view over the O’Hare field – or at least part of it.
With an adequate zoom lens, it was possible to grab some rather passable imagery.
Check out
A late checkout was offered – but was not taken up. I was able to check out at the front desk without any issues, with the bill settled and no further charges sustained.
The full review of the Holiday Inn/Staybridge Suites Rosemont is coming soon… and from this, I might have a new spot to stay in Chicago.
For those who like their airplane pictures, we’ll have an Airplane Art Special from here too in the main trip report.
