Royal Dutch Airlines – KLM – is preparing to add three new long-haul routes to its map as it continues to strengthen its network.
The airline is planning to add San Diego (US), Georgetown (Guyana) and Hyderabad (India) to its long-haul operations.
Let us break down the details
San Diego
The new Amsterdam to San Diego route will open for flights from 8 May 2025, offering a three-times-a-week service as part of the Air France-KLM-Delta-Virgin Atlantic Joint Business Venture agreement.
The planning operating schedule is below:

Georgetown
KLM will add Georgetown to its network, with two flights a week from the 4th of June 2025, as demand has grown from the region.
The outbound flight is notable, as it will have a stop at Sint Martin on the outbound, whilst the return flight will be direct.
KL788 DEPART AMS 10:00 ARRIVE SXM 13:00, DEPART SXM 14:00 ARRIVE GEO 16:35 KL789 DEPART GEO 17:55 ARRIVE AMS 09:15+1 Commences: 4th June 2025 Operates: Wednesdays and Saturdays Booked Equipment: KLM Airbus A330-200

Hyderabad
Finally, from the 2nd of September 2025, KLM will operate three weekly flights to Hyderabad, tapping into the pharmaceutical industry in the region. It will mark the fourth direct Indian route KLM will operate. Planned flights are:
KL873 DEPART AMS 11:40 ARRIVE HYD 00:30+1 KL874 DEPART HYD 02:20 ARRIVE AMS 08:40 Commences: 2nd September 2025 Operates: Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays Booked Equipment: Boeing 777-200R
KLM will fly a Boeing 777-200ER on this route. This aircraft offers 35 seats in World Business Class, 24 seats in Premium Comfort Class and 229 seats in Economy Class.
Filling in the dots and lines
With networks being restored, we now come to the point of “where next to fly”. For KLM, it picked some interesting destinations – from the underserved West Coast of the USA, to demand in South America and even adding its fourth destination to India.
The services very much seem to be starting point services, with a limited timetable through the week – so you’ll need to plan how you travel.
But it opens up new options.
Just ensure you have the funds to fly on these routes, as KLM is still smarting over the planned rises using its home base of Schiphol Airport…
