It seems Lufthansa Group is happy enough with SWISS International Air Lines that the airline is to double its incoming fleet.
The first of the new aircraft – an Airbus A350-900 – is due to be received in summer 2025.
Originally, the airline was allocated five of the type by Lufthansa Group. Another five have been allocated, doubling the planned fleet to 10 Airbus A350-900s.
These will be fitted with the SWISS Senses seating product in a four-class configuration (akin to the Allgris design being rolled out on Lufthansa).

SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger said:
“Our new Airbus A350s will make our fleet even more modern,”
“This is a major investment, and a vital one to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ high expectations. With these advanced twinjets and their innovative cabins, we’re bringing our long-haul aircraft fleet up to a totally new level of modernity, sustainability and inflight comfort for our guests.”
Delivery and Routes
Whilst the first Airbus A350-900 is set to be received in the Summer of 2025, the additional aircraft will follow from 2027 onwards, with delivery completed in 2031 – making the A350 fleet deployment a prolonged experience.
SWISS will finalise which routes its new Airbus A350s will serve over the next few months, as the progress continues towards the delivery of the first aircraft.
Currently, SWISS is planning to use the A350 fleet to withdraw the last of its quad-engined aircraft – the Airbus A340-300. The introduction of an additional five A350-900s should allow it to remove older A330-300s from its fleet – or choose to expand its network if it chooses.
We’ll have to see what the airline plans for these extra aircraft.
