Jazeera Airways to serve Budapest Airport

23/01/2025 by Kevincm

Budapest Airport continues to make strives in its network, with Kuwait-based carrier Jazeera Airways planning to commence operations for the summer season.

The route – funded in part by Visit Hungary – will operate between Kuwait and Budapest twice a week between 5th June to 25th September 25, 2025

This will be provisioned by an Airbus A320 which offers 174 seats onboard in a single class (with delineations in Premium, Preferred, Extra Legroom and Classic Economy seats).

The move also increases Budapest Airports Middle Eastern Region coverage with services alongside Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Israel, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia – offering over 17,000 seats a week between Hungary and the Middle East region.

The route is expected to facilitate travel not only from Kuwait but also from India, enhancing Budapest’s position as a gateway to the Middle East and beyond. Visit Hungary, a company belonging to the tourism agency of Hungary has also joined forces to help launch the new route.

Máté Ritter, Head of Airline Development at Budapest Airport said:

“We are delighted to welcome Jazeera Airways to Budapest Airport and celebrate this significant milestone in launching direct flights to Kuwait,”

“This new service highlights the strength of our network development strategy and underscores the growing demand for connections between Hungary and the Middle East. We look forward to a successful partnership with Jazeera Airways and to further enriching travel opportunities for our passengers.“

Expanding footprint

Whilst it’s just under 350 extra seats a week going between Kuwait and Budapest, it also represents another value airline entering the market to provide connectivity between the Middle East and Central Europe.

It seems there’s a little help to get this show on the road, with Visit Hungary dipping in its pocket to help get this route on the road. They’ll be looking for strong visitor numbers on this route, whilst Jazeera Airways will be looking for strong loads and revenues from this route, and seeing how it fits into the network beyond this coming summer season.
