Lufthansa continues to break new ground with its Airbus A380 fleet – this time operating it to The Mile-High City, Denver.
The Airbus A380 will operate out of its home base of Munich Airport to Denver International Airport.
The planned operation is as follows:
LH480 DEPART MUC 11:15 ARRIVE DEN 13:45 LH481 DEPART DEN 16:15 ARRIVE MUC 10:50+1 Commences with Airbus A380 from 30th March Operates Daily Booked Equipment: Lufthansa Airbus A380
The A380 offers eight seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Economy and 371 seats in Economy.
This summer, a total of eight Airbus A380s, each with 509 seats, will be based at Lufthansa’s Munich hub. The destinations are New York (JFK), Boston, Washington, Los Angeles, Delhi and Denver – thus five of the A380 routes are to the USA, where the demand exists out of the six the airline is planning to operate this summer.
As well as timed for feeder flights to meet this flight at Munich, flying into Denver means that passengers can connect onto the United Airlines hub based at that city’s airport, with United offering over 170 destinations from its Mountains hub.

Heiko Reitz, CCO Lufthansa Airlines said:
‘The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa, but also for the airport itself. It is the first time that a scheduled flight with an aircraft of this size will land there. Passengers, airport visitors and crews love the A380, the flying experience and the feeling of space. At the same time, the A380 offers more premium seats than any other aircraft,’
Growing Denver… as well as the value of the A380
Lufthansa has been flying non-stop from Munich to Denver for nine years and from Frankfurt for 25 years. In summer 2025, a total of four daily flights will be offered – two from Munich and two from Frankfurt.
For the airline, putting an Airbus A380 on this route offers additional capacity, without the use of an extra aircraft, with the resources to operate that.
It also shows the value of the Airbus A380 – it is still one of the few ways to get a lot of high-value premium passengers from A to B, whilst carrying enough economy passengers on trunk routes on Hub-to-Hub routes.
Something that was in the core design of the A380 is that hub-to-hub connectivity. It’s good to see it being used here.
