It seems that Norse Atlantic Airways is boosting its presence at Los Angeles International Airport, with the announcement of a new service to be started to Athens, Greece.
With Transatlantic travel still being the cash cow that some airlines are seeing, Norse Atlantic is pitching this route launch to open more routes out of the US to Europe.

In flight, there is inflight entertainment installed, along with inflight connectivity for those who need to be connected in the sky

Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways said:
“We’re thrilled to be launching a new route between Los Angeles and Athens this year. We expect the uptake to be positive as we offer this budget-friendly route, opening up more transatlantic options for our customers and the opportunity to explore the ancient city of Athens and rich history of Los Angeles. Our goal is to make travel accessible and affordable for everyone and this is another step in that mission and in our commitment to offer new destinations.”
Growing out of Los Angeles
The city of Angels seems an important part of the Norse Atlantic network, with four destinations being served from Los Angeles. They include London, Paris, Rome, and now Athens, targeting a prime market for both outbound and inbound traffic, that can be price-sensitive.
It seems that Norse Atlantic thinks it can make a go of this route – given there are no competitors on it currently.
We’ll have to see if that assumption can be held in the long term.
