The Quickest of Takes
We’ve seen movement across multiple airlines since British Airways (and Iberia), with Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic and even easyJet all putting their interest in poaching British Airways Executive Club members.
It seems that Lufthansa Group are now after Iberia Members as well, with the latest offer, and I suspect there may be a few more airlines keeping more than a close eye on this.
Apart from the reduced membership year, there is one thing to be careful of – Lufthansa is moving to a dynamic redemption chart, so you may need a lot more miles than you used to in the past to redeem for routes.
Lufthana’s route map is impressive however, with a lot of subsidiary airlines that should allow you to commute from the regions to one of the airline’s hubs (remember, Lufthansa Group has Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways and SWISS, as well as Lufthansa itself and its smaller subsidiaries (Lufthansa CityLine, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines and Discover Airlines).
That choice could swing it for some frequent travellers.
