Airbus has been busy again – this time, securing an order for new aircraft from lessor Jackson Square Aviation (JSA).

JSA is part of the Mitsubishi HC Capital Group, a global leasing company based in Japan and publicly listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
They have placed a firm order for 50 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft. The agreement is JSA’s first direct order with Airbus, making the lessor a new Airbus customer.
No engine supplier has been specified at this point.
As of December 2024, JSA managed 286 aircraft, split across the Airbus A220, Airbus A320, Airbus A330, Airbus A350, Boeing 737, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 families.

Kevin McDonald, JSA’s Chief Executive Officer, said,
“This is an exciting milestone in JSA’s history as a longtime global leader in the sale and leaseback financings of Airbus aircraft. JSA looks forward to our expanded relationship with Airbus. We are excited to add the A320neo to our long-term pipeline as we continue our mission to provide the world’s airlines with superior fleet and capital solutions.”
Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business said,
“Jackson Square Aviation has an impressive client base and we welcome its decision to become part of the Airbus family. After a thorough evaluation, JSA’s selection of the Airbus A320neo adds the leading single aisle aircraft family with outstanding performance and passenger comfort to its portfolio of aircraft for its airlines.”
Plenty of life in the leasing market
It seems life continues to flow in the leasing market, with them picking up those all-important delivery slots so that when airlines need to flex their fleets, JSA can deliver the aircraft to them.
Going through the lessor’s customer list, I’d strongly suspect that they might have some customers lined up for these new single-aisle Airbus aircraft.
It will depend as usual on delivery timelines. Given how busy the production line is and how full the order books are, that could be some years off.
