It seems the delivery delay monster has struck again – this time with Lufthansa.
It’s got to the point that the new generation Airbus A350-900s (which have been confined to operations from Munich until now ) are heading Lufthansa’s main hub of Frankfurt-am-Main.

The airline has deployed four Airbus A350-900s to Frankfurt since the start of the summer flight schedule.
A further two aircraft will be added in May and July.
The aircraft have been in service on routes to Seoul and Shanghai since March 30. Denver will follow from 1st May and Seattle from 1st July.
The full Allegris product will be offered on flights operating from Munich. From Frankfurt, you might see it, but more likely the three-class variant.
There are currently 30 Airbus A350-900s in service from Munich, with 14 more aircraft of this type expected to join the fleet by 2029.
Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer Lufthansa Airlines:
“With the temporary deployment of A350 aircraft from Frankfurt, we are closing a gap caused by delayed aircraft deliveries. Lufthansa’s state-of-the-art Airbus aircraft offer an improved travel experience from Frankfurt until new long-haul aircraft are delivered.
Over the next 36 months, Lufthansa is expecting the largest fleet renewal in its history. By the end of 2027, 61 new aircraft are scheduled to be added to the fleet. This means an average of one new aircraft every two weeks.”
Do the shuffle
With delays in deliveries, it seems the A350s have found a new home to operate out of, as the fleet is shuffled around to support transcontinental services out of Frankfurt, with Lufthansa moving up to six aircraft from their usual Munich base to Frankfurt-am-Main Airport.
For passengers, it will be a welcome boon, with updated cabins to enjoy – as well as show off the Allegris concept.
It’ll also be motivation for Lufthansa to move forward with its refurbishment plans, as it awaits the new aircraft for its fleet.
