Air Canada loves the Airbus A220 – to the point that the airline will be the launch operator of the Airspace Cabin aboard the A220.
The launch of Airspace on the A220 will bring the Airpsace comfort features of the A220 to the aircraft. Currently, Air Canada is into the mid-30s of its A220 deployment.
Air Canada notes that they are fans of this “go-anywhere” aircraft, which has had optimisations for Air Canada including Wifi, Wider seating and two-class seat product.s
With the Airspace A220 cabin configuration, they intend to add to this, including the AirSpace XL Overhead storage bins, New Ceiling artictutre, wi-fi connectivity, new IFe and its new “glowing hearted interior”, which will also make an appearance on the A321XLR
An interesting note on the AirSpace XL bins – whilst they have increase in size, they’ve managed to reduce the weight of them by 20%. This is by switching from the pivot-bin style overhead bin to the more conventional shelf bin (with the pivots accounting for that extra weigh)
The passenger Service Unit has also been updated too.
In the mock-up, the seats used by Air Canada were shown off (Collins MiQ in the front, Collins Slimline Meridian in the back, with Airbus coverings).
Coming 2026
For those of you looking forward to the new cabin (and I’ll emphase at this point, not all the details of it have been released), Air Canada will be flying the first A220 with the Airspace cabin in May 2026, with the delivery of its 43rd aircraft.
We’ll be diving a little deeper into the A220 Airspace cabin in our post-show coverage, so stick around for it.
