AIX25: Frontier Airlines partners with Geven for their First Class Seat

Earlier last year, Frontier Airlines teased their upcoming First Class Seat product.

At Aircraft Interiors Expo, it was revealed that Geven would be the party manufacturing the seat.

Geven will be manufacturing the seats based on the product, which will be customised for Frontier Airlines.

Frontier Airlines will be installing two rows of their First Class seat aboard their Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 fleets, with them being installed both as line-fit from the Airbus factory, with existing aircraft being retrofitted. Retrofits will be carried out at USA bases, with a full programme to support the deployment – with the possibility of them being fitted during heavy checks.

In terms of the selection, Frontier noted that seat comfort and weight were key factors in the selection of the Comoda.

The final finish of the seat has not been confirmed, with both Geven and Frontier noting that the seat may have other changes.

Geven and Frontier have an aggressive timetable, with the airline intending to have these flying towards the end of the year.

As Frontier adjusts itself and tries to take on new markets, having a First Class product has been a glaring hole in their product lineup. With this, they can drive new passenger flows as well as those passengers who just want a first-class seat when travelling.

It’ll be interesting when it rolls out into the real world – and certainly one we’ll be keeping an eye on

That actually looks really good, although perhaps a bit firm for my tastes. Have you had a chance to sit in this seat yet?

I still have trouble with the idea of “Frontier First Class” on general principles, but even if the service level isn’t materially higher and this turns out t0 be like Spirit’s “Big Front Seat” that could be a winner for F9. I used the Spirit BFS once flying TPA-LAS, and the value for money for the additional space was a bargain.
