We’re in the mop-up phase of our show coverage from Aircraft Interiors Expo 2025 (with a few more releases to plough through). But there is still news to go through, kicking off with Ethiopian Airlines who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Safran Seating for new seats.
Safran Z400 Seat – Image, Economy Class and Beyond
This MoU covers the provisioning of Z400 economy class seats for 8 Boeing 777-9 aircraft. These seats are expected to be delivered for Mid-2027.
Each aircraft will be equipped with 383 passenger seats in economy class, showcasing Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to expanding its fleet and supporting its growth trajectory.
Safran’s Z400 seats are a long-range offering, giving passengers an improved inflight entertainment experience with the latest generation 13-inch screens, a notable upgrade from the previous 11.6-inch displays. Furthermore, the seats are 12.5% lighter than the previous generation due to fewer components and the use of advanced lightweight materials, ensuring cost-efficient operation and sustainability.
Ethiopian Airlines and Safran Seats have cultivated a strong, long-standing partnership over the years, highlighted by the ongoing collaboration to equip their A350 aircraft with business and economy class seatings.
