It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have an Austrian Airlines Boeing 787-9 on its final approach to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, in landing configuration as it passes the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.
Austrian Airlines operates a fleet of two Boeing 787-9s currently in its long-haul fleet as it commences its fleet renewal. The airline also operates the Boeing 767-300ER and Boeing 777-200ER in its widebody operation.
These aircraft provide intercontinental connectivity, allowing passengers to travel to Vienna and connect with the Austrian Airlines short to medium-haul network.
This aircraft, OE-LPL, is named Spanish Riding School. It was originally delivered to Bamboo Airways in January 2020 and returned to the lessor in November 2023 after Bamboo ceased its long-haul operations. It was redelivered to Austrian Airlines in May 2024, where it currently remains. It operates from the Austrian Airlines base in Vienna, shuttling back and forth to New York-JFK.
More Airplane Art next week!
