Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (24th May)

24/05/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

It’s the end of another week, and for some of us, a three-day weekend. It’s also Pride Weekend in Birmingham.

But with the splashes of colour in the world, we have the grey of a wet bank holiday.

It must be time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

TRIP REPORT: Springtime Transatlantic Adventures

We’ve come to the end of this trip report, which had one final sting in its tail. Thanks BA…

  • Luggage Trolley Drifting through Terminal 3 to the Coach Home
  • The Other Shoe Drops. Was it Worth it?

Routes and Networks

  • STARLUX Airlines to connect Taipei to Phoenix Sky Harbour – all to help TSMC…
  • Aer Lingus to set off to Cancún, Mexico – A winter getaway route…
  • Cathay Pacific to return to Adelaide for the winter – … and another.

Passenger Experience

  • EU eGates to be opened to UK Passport holders again – But don’t expect them for this summer. Europe’s Entry/Exit System will need to be live first.
  • Cathay Pacific enables Apple’s Find My Share Item Location for “those” occasions. This is another hope for those with luggage that has been lost.

New Aircraft News

  • Wizz Air takes delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR, with Pratt & Whitney Engines – and it’s already flying. Jeddah will soon be in its future…

Seating

  • Luxair selects Recaro’s R2 seat for its upcoming Embraer E195-E2 – from the Supplier Furnished Catalogue, no less.

Pretty pictures

  • Austrian Airlines Boeing 787-9 on final approach to Chicago O’Hare

Next Week

It’s a Bank Holiday Weekend for some, Memorial Day weekend for others, so like others, we’re taking it easy with our coverage over the next few days. I will be launching a big Travel Technology Seires over the week, as I take you through how I built my latest Data Storage appliance.

Just something different from a British Airways Club Europe trip report (which I’ll get around to finishing – I just need to spend a few hours picture sorting to fill it all in.

On top of that, I’ll have my usual mixture of news, views and anything else that catches my eye over the next days.

Until next week – happy landings!
