Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways enhance lounge access benefits for passengers with status passengers from 1st July

As ITA Airways continues to be further borgified by the Lufthansa Group, frequent flyer benefits continue to be extended.

Lufthansa Frequent Travellers (sometimes known as FTL status)  will be able to use the ITA Airways lounges from July 1, 2025 and thus benefit from an even more comprehensive lounge network. This will significantly expand the lounge network, especially for travel to and via Italy. Lufthansa Group customers will enjoy an even more seamless premium experience when travelling with the Group’s various airlines.

Senators (SEN) and HON Circle Members (HON) had already gained access to the ITA Airways lounges in March.

This offers:

  • Extended lounge access: All status customers can relax in the lounges of Lufthansa Group Airlines and in the ITA Airways lounges in Milan, Rome and Catania.
  • Further status benefits: Additional privileges for Frequent Travellers, Senators and HON Circle Members are offered on ITA Airways flights.

All Lufthansa Group status passengers flying with ITA Airways benefit from priority check-in, additional baggage allowance and waiting list priority.

Senators and HON Circle Members also enjoy priority boarding, fast lane access, accelerated baggage handling and free seat reservations.

Since February 2025, Miles & More members have been able to earn and redeem miles on all ITA Airways flights and earn Points, Qualifying Points and, in Business Class, HON Circle Points, with terminal co-location and codeshare partnerships established.

Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, said:

“The harmonization of our Frequent Traveler status benefits across the Lufthansa Group marks a significant step for our most loyal guests. It underlines our commitment to a first-class and seamless travel experience. By expanding lounge access and introducing additional privileges for Lufthansa Group status customers, we are offering more convenience and flexibility.”

Marcus Frank, Vice President Loyalty at Lufthansa Group, adds:

“The new benefits for our guests are part of our ongoing efforts to further improve our loyalty program and offer added value to our status customers.”

The integration process continues

With the borgification of ITA Airways into a Lufthansa Group airline, there have been plenty of integrations. But the big one remains for 2026, when ITA Airways exits SkyTeam and joins Star Alliance.

Whilst it is slated for 2026, there have been no confirmed dates yet – something we’re monitoring over at Economy Class and Beyond, as the balance of the alliances continues to shift and change.
