It seems the quest for more money, whilst offering points continues, with Qatar Airways launching Privilege Club Pro.
Privilege Club Pro allows members of the club to subscribe and earn Avios, as well as Qualifying QPoints, on a monthly basis. It marks the first time a loyalty programme with Avios has introduced a subscription that allows members to collect status points.
Some numbers multiplied out
Let’s put those numbers into context:
Cost (Monthly) | Cost (Yearly) | Avios | Qpoints | |
ACCESS | 50 | 500 | 30000 | 0 |
SELECT | 130 | 1300 | 90000 | 0 |
EXCLUSIVE | 240 | 2400 | 180000 | 0 |
ULTIMATE | 350 | 3500 | 240000 | 60 |
There could be some value here if we compare it to the Buy Avois section on Avios.com.
- 30,000 Avios will cost £545
- 90,000 Avios will cost £1599
- 175,000 Avios will cost £3099 (nearest to 180000)
- 200,000 Avios (max purchase) will cost £3,539.
Avios.com also offer a subscription offer too – just for points.
However, as we all know, the Bank of Avois is not controlled by a central bank, but how much airlines and IAG value Avios on that day.
Whilst the Qpoints are a nice addition, you are paying a lot for them, with 60 Qpoints a year, not even getting you to halfway between Burgundy and Silver status. I would consider them a top-up, if anything. But for $3500, I suspect I could earn a lot more Qpoints in the air.
If you have plans for these Avios, it could well be worth it (especially if you’re finding it hard picking them up by flying, Uber rides, credit card transfer and so on). I do feel that they could have offered a few more Qpoints through the offering through..
