airJapan launches an in-flight Gatchapon campaign

Gatcapon (or Gacha’s) are in vogue, be it in loot boxes, paid game content, and the machines dotted over the world. But in the real world, airJapan has launched a gacha campaign

Between 25th July to 31st August, airJapan’s event “Catch Summer Memories Onboard! AirJapan Gacha!” will run. This initiative was inspired by Gachapon, Japan’s popular capsule toy vending machines, which have also been attracting growing interest overseas. It was born from airJapan’s cabin crew’s desire to help passengers create lasting memories during their journey.

The campaign will operate on outbound flights from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok (NQ1) and Singapore (NQ3).

To take part, you’ll need to open your wallet and order at least 2,000 yen onboard the aircraft (excluding pre-ordered items).

What’s on offer? Well, luck might be on your side.  At the lowest level, you can win stickers featuring AirJapan aircraft designs, stickers featuring popular in-flight meals. Each item is specially designed by our cabin attendants, inspired by AirJapan’s destinations and in‑flight meals.

Going up the stakes, we have flight tags in blue, as “Remove Before Flight” style tags are always in fashion.

However, there are top prizes, with two customers who could receive a special prize of a 10,000 yen flight voucher that can be used on their next flight or later.

The Gacha promotion runs from 25th July to 31st August, with the exceptions of the Narita-to-Bangkok flights on August 20, 23, and 27 and the Narita-to-Singapore flights on August 18, 21-25, and 28. Due to the time the Seoul flight operates, it will not be offered on this route.

It’s different and fun

Let’s face it. We’ve seen lots of campaigns in the past – be it scratchcards or buy two get one free in the air in duty-free catalogues. This just adds a little fun to the game.

If you can spend 2000 Yen aboard in food and in-flight trinkets, you’ll get a chance to win something fun.

And if you’re travelling to Bangkok or Singapore from Tokyo Narita, make a new memory too.
