How have seven months flown by? Nonetheless, we’re now into the beginning of August, as well as at the end of a week.

  • Heathrow Airport unveils its grand expansion plan – Although I’m sure a management consultant will be able to make a £3 shovel charge £1 million without a sod of dirt cut….

  • Wizz Air adds further routes from London Luton Airport – We’ll see if they start.
  • American Airlines to deploy 777s between New York and Los Angeles, with Premium Economy – Premium Economy on the way
  • Qatar Airways boosts frequencies on core routes for winter – With Heathrow getting up to 10 flights a day.

  • Saudia activates Apple’s Find My Share Item Location Feature – Good for finding your bag
  • airJapan launches an in-flight Gatchapon campaign – Because luck is always in vogue. even in capsules.

New Aircraft News

  • Vueling to switch to Boeing 737 MAX aircraft – to be made up of 737-8200 and 737-10s… if they ever get certified.

Loyalty

  • British Airways launches another “Avios-only” flight… to Cape Town – If there are seats that are still available, they could represent very good value.

Multi-Modal Connectivity

  • West Midlands Trains set to move back into public ownership – in 2026.
  • More Open Access Routes approved on the East Coast Mainline… with a number of denials – Because you can’t always get what you want.
