Japan Airlines is adding extra capacity for the winter timetable, with some routes getting some useful capacity changes.
Let’s dive in
For those heading between Tokyo-Narita and Melbourne (Australia), there’s good news as the service will see an uplift from three flights a week to a daily service.
Meanwhile, the Tokyo-Narita and Shanghai-Pudong route will be resumed between 26th October 2025 and 28th March 2026 (with a break between 10th December and 17th December).
For those looking for Japan Airlines’ latest products on the long-haul segments, the airline is planning to introduce its Airbus A350-1000 on the Tokyo-Haneda to Paris Charles de Gaulle route, commencing on 9th November, operating on the JL45/JL46 flight pair. With this change, 12 daily flights will be operated across five routes from Tokyo Haneda (including New York twice daily, Dallas Fort Worth, London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Los Angeles.
Finally, there is a capacity and class uplift between Tokyo and Hawaii, with leisure demand around the JAL Honolulu Marathon scheduled for December 14, 2025, and the year-end and New Year holidays. First Class service will be offered on these flights. Check when you book, as there will Boeing 787-8 operating from Tokyo Narita, and a Boeing 777-300ER operating on very limited dates towards the end of December/beginning of January.

A busy winter
Japan Airlines is preparing for a busy winter season, both at home and for international flights, with extra connectivity to Australia, China, the USA, a product uplift to Europe and some useful changes to connections to Sapporo and Okinawa, especially at key holiday periods.
This should offer its passengers some connections, as well as improved comfort.
With winter being a traditionally lower-travel period, it’s good to see growth in the network.
