For those of you who want to explore Southern Europe from Finland, there’s good news – Finnair is adding four new destinations to its network.

Finnair will strengthen its Southern European network and start scheduled flights to Catania, Florence, Valencia and the Greek island of Kos in summer 2026. Catania, Florence and Valencia are new destinations, while Kos has been previously operated as a charter flight.

The flights will operate on certain dates below:

  • Helsinki – Florence – 2nd April to 18th October 2026 (twice a week)
  • Helsinki – Catania – 31st March to 21st October 2026 (three times a week)
  • Helsinki – Valencia 11th April to 24th October 2026 (twice a week)
  • Helsinki – Kos 2nd May to 24th October 2025 (twice a week)

Finnair has a reasonable offering of Southern European destinations in summer 2026 for those who wish to fly from or via  Helsinki.

In Italy, Finnair also flies to Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona and Bologna. Meanwhile, for Spain, the airline connects to Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma, and Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote on the Canary Islands. Finally, for those who want to travel to Greece, there are flights to Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes and Santorini.

Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:

“Italy, Spain, and Greece are particularly popular with our Finnish and Northern European customers during the summer months. The new destinations complement our Southern European network, offering both beach holidays and culture, and the travel period extends from spring to autumn.”

Deeper into Southern Europe

With plenty of sun and activities, Southern Europe remains a tourist hotspot, along with the business possibilities that occur too. With a few flights a week, this is focused on the holiday traffic, as well as connecting flights for those longer-haul destinations.

If the timings are right, it could work out well for you.
