Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (30th August)

30/08/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

As we exit August, and the schools head back, your writer is enjoying the slightly cooler weather and rain.

Well, enjoying is a stretch. It’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Yes, I’m still neck-deep in a Windows 11 deployment project. Yes, it is slowly wiping me out as I try to get more devices in. Who would have thought laptops from over five years ago might not be fit to run something? Anyhoo. Yes, I’m still busy with it as we come up to the Windows 10 End of Support Date. I’ll have something later next month as we come up to the final month of Windows 10 in full support… and if you can’t upgrade, how to get updates beyond the deadline.

Premium Seating

  • Emirates adds Premium Seating capacity to four cities – More Premium Economy and Retrofitted Business Class seats on the way.
  • LATAM to use Recaro PL3530 in its Premium Economy product – With a planned launch in 2027

New Aircraft news

  • Korean Air plans to add 103 new Boeing aircraft to its fleet – Once the ink is dry on the order, we’ll see.
  • Brussels Airlines to add further Airbus A320neo aircraft  – Five neos entering the Brussels Matrix
  • Qantas increases its order of A321XLRs… with flat-bed seats coming – But you’re going to have to wait a bit

Routes and Networks

  • Japan Airlines adds additional capacity for International and Domestic routes  – Lots of options for travellers to the land of the rising sun
  • Finnair adds four new Southern European routes for Summer 2026 – Catania, Florence, Valencia and Kos join the network
  • Delta to add two European routes from Boston – Madrid and Nice. How Nice

Whilst Stocks Last…

  • British Airways launches its “End of Summer” sale – With British Airways Holidays daying part too

Pretty Pictures

  • Qantas Boeing 787-9 parked at London Heathrow Airport

Next Week

Whilst I’m ploughing through Windows 11 upgrade prompts, I’m still trying to find time to take a late summer break (although right now, it looks like a busy travel time in October, no matter what).

Also, with lots of companies seeing the return of their workforce after various holidays, we should be seeing a lot more headlines in the future (although Spirit Airlines seems to have decided to make its own unwanted headlines, with the airline re-entering Chapter 11).

So hopefully, I’ll have more headlines as the week progresses, with my usual mix of news, views and anything else that catches my eye.

Until then, Happy Landings!
