Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (6th September)

It’s that time of the week again – with schools back and me looking at dashboards that make no sense to anyone, it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Yes, we’re light on news still. Some articles didn’t make it out of production, and others are nearing completion. Things in the real world continue to be on a bit of a knife-edge as I battle with the joy of update rings, Intune and other curses. I’m hoping for things to ease… but it could be fun in the run-up to October.

  • Virgin Australia takes delivery of its first Embraer E190-E2 – on a lease too
  • WestJet places an order for Boeing 737 MAX 10s and 787-9s – Signed and sealed
  • Air Côte d’Ivoire takes delivery of its first A330neo… with an interesting twist – Four Classes in an Airbus A330-900neo…

IFE+C

  • JetBlue Becomes the First Airline for Amazon’s Project Kuiper – Next step, get the rest of the Kuiper Constellation up and running…

Fares, fare.

  • Austrian Airlines to test “Dubai Deal” – a “lean” experience to Dubai – With an Airbus A320neo

Rail Fares

  • Scotrail abandons Peak-Time fares – An interesting move. Let’s hope it’s sustainable

Pretty Pictures

  • Jet2 Boeing 737-800 taxiing out at Birmingham Airport

Next Week

Your editor is still split into three different parts, trying to get various things finished, lined up and meeting Microsoft-imposed deadlines. Between then, we’ll try and get headlines as the week progresses, with my usual mix of news, views and anything else that catches my eye.

Until then, Happy Landings!
