Air Canada to operate Ottawa-London year-round

23/09/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

Air Canada has announced that its Ottawa to London Heathrow non-stop flights will continue for the Winter 2025-26 season, ensuring year-round connectivity between Canada’s capital city and the United Kingdom.

Services over the winter season will drop from four flights a week to three, which will then ramp back up to four for the summer season. The planned timetable is as follows:

AC888 DEPART YOW 21:55 ARRIVE LHR 09:20+1
AC889 DEPART LHR 12:00 ARRIVE YOW 14:30

Winter season commences on 2nd November 2025 to 27th March 2026
Operates three times a week
Operates Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in both directions
Booked Equipment: Air Canada Boeing 787-8

Air Canada will continue to operate the route with a Boeing 787-8 with a three-class configuration with 20 business class, 21 Premium Economy and 214 Economy Class seats in its long-haul configuration, as well as the cargo capacity in the belly of the aircraft.

In addition to its London Heathrow route, Air Canada will operate over 450 weekly flights to and from Ottawa this winter across a range of regional, domestic, international and transborder flights.

Tickets and reservations can be purchased via Air Canada, its app, and its usual distribution points.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Cargo, at Air Canada, said:

“Air Canada continues to solidify its leadership serving our country’s capital and we are excited to keep Ottawa connected to one of the world’s most important global gateways all year long. Customers travelling for business, corporate and leisure from the National Capital Region and abroad will enjoy the ease and convenience of international travel options to and from Ottawa. We can’t wait to welcome you onboard our London flights this winter and beyond,”

Susan Margles, President and CEO, Ottawa International Airport Authority, added

“In today’s global landscape, strong connections between Canada’s Capital Region and strategic markets like the United Kingdom are more vital than ever. Air Canada’s decision to extend its YOW-LHR service through the winter is great news – it reflects the airline’s confidence in our region, its deep commitment to Ottawa–Gatineau, and its role as a leading international carrier”

“This move is a win for travellers, businesses, and our entire community.”

Mark Sutcliffe, Mayor of Ottawa, concluded:

“I am delighted that service from Ottawa to London Heathrow will now be available year-round. I regularly hear from business leaders and residents that we need more direct links to Ottawa. The connection to London has been very successful and well-received. Expanding to year-round service will enhance Ottawa’s success as both a business and visitor destination. It strengthens our connection to the world, supports economic growth, and makes our city even more accessible as a place to visit, live, and invest in,”

Keeping Connectvity

Air Canada appears to be satisfied with its Ottawa-London route, enough to commit to three times a week service during the winter season, which, considering that Ottawa was being served four times a week in the peak summer season, is not a significant downgrade.

With Canada turning its eye to business elsewhere in the world, having strong connections between its capital and a gateway to Europe will be important, with Air France also operating between Ottawa and Paris.

Thus, we have competition and choice – something always welcome for the traveller.
