For those who are travelling in Hong Kong and use the Cathay Group Asia Miles scheme, there’s good news, as you can earn Asia Miles on your Uber Taxi trips.
The partnersup is now live, with different points depending on the ride:
- Daily rides: Earn 20 Asia Miles on every Uber Taxi trip in Hong Kong
- Airport trips: Earn 40 Asia Miles on rides to and from the airport
- Welcome bonus: First-time Uber App users get 500 extra Asia Miles on their first Uber Taxi trip
Throughout the partnership, Uber Taxi may roll out bonus miles and limited-time offers, giving Cathay members and Uber app users even more ways to earn.
This is region-locked (like most Uber and Airline offers) for rides within Hong Kong only.
To link your Cathay membership account in the Uber App to start earning Asia Miles, you need to:
- Log in to your Uber account
- Navigate to the “Account” section
- Select “Rewards – Cathay” from the available options
- “Link to start earning Asia Miles
- Sign in to your existing Cathay membership account to start earning.

Your author is using a similar scheme with British Airways – in their case, they’ve added their frequent flyer account in, and are racking in the Avios per ride (and if it’s a points-earning credit card too, it’s a perfect chance to double-dip).
As usual, you should compare against other taxi or transit options (and if coming from the Island or Kowloon, consider the MTR/Airport Express to the airport, rather than a long taxi ride to the airport), but a move like this can be useful for the local traveller – as well as those who want extra Asia Miles in their frequent flyer account.
