For those of you who use Avios, British Airways is preparing to increase the cost of Reward Flights as it jacks up the cost of redemptions and fees.
The price changes go into effect from 15 December 2025.
The price of Reward Flights will increase on all British Airways flights and airline partners. This will affect both the Avios and cash elements of the fare.
Thankfully, the rises don’t seem too nasty if we look at the examples given by the airline.

Any Reward Flights booked before this date will be at the old rates.
Changing flights?
If you make a change on or after 15 December, then the new rates will apply if you want to change destination, cabin or seasonality (for example, changing from an off-peak to a peak date).
More details
For those with Amex/Barclays vouchers, and those who need more details, there’s some information in the FAQ’s at https://www.britishairways.com/content/the-british-airways-club/avios/spending-avios/reward-flights.
It’s annoying… but what are you going to do about it?
There have been only a few major movements in pricing, with the last big shift when Off Peak and Peak time redeptions were introduced (along with minor changes). It seems that with costs rising, British Airways is passing some of those costs on, both in the form of Avios and hard cash.
And it’ll always pass on carrier-imposed and fuel duties too. It loves doing that.
At least the rises aren’t that massive in the scheme of things. Of course, your mileage will vary.
Sadly, as we all know, the value of an airline’s loyalty currently goes down as well as down.
Got a redemption in mind? Book it now
It’s not long to the 15th December – you’ve got just under 12 days at the time of publication to take advantage of the old rates. I’d be looking at your calendar and your redemptions to identify if you want to book something – be it speculatively or firm, if you want to take advantage of the old pricing.
I know I will be.
