Lufthansa Group is investing in its customer experience and will equip all of the group’s around 850 aircraft with high-performance broadband internet access from 2026 onwards, both within the existing fleet and on all new aircraft.

All aircraft in the group are set to be upgraded across all brands

Starlink’s constellation is a Low-Earth Orbit network, which enables higher bandwidth and speed. This will allowstreaming, cloud-based working, and other high-speed applications during flights in the future.

The new internet service will be available free of charge to all status customers and Lufthansa Travel ID users across all travel classes.

According to their release, this will make Lufthansa Group the largest airline group in Europe to upgrade its fleet with state-of-the-art broadband internet.

Introduction into service

The gradual introduction of Starlink on board the Lufthansa Group aircraft will begin as early as the second half of 2026. By 2029, the entire fleet will be equipped with the new connectivity offering. Further details will be announced in the course of the year.

In terms of airline specifics, two members of the Luthhansa Group have stated their intent:

  • Brussels Airlines will be modifying its fleet, with the A320 fleet going first, followed by the long haul feelt in a second phase.
  • The SWISS-operated aircraft will be deploying it as part of the ongoing planning process, with further information due during 2o26
