For those who have been waiting for miracles to happen, there’s good news, as the certification of Lufthansa Allegris Business Class seats seems to have taken major steps forward.
It is to the point that the partial certification of the new Allegris Business Class in the Dreamliner has made further significant progress in recent days, and the seats are now expected to be approved even earlier.
This excludes the three seats in the second row that have not been certified yet. As such, a total of 25 seats out of 28 will be available.
Lufthansa had originally made these seats available for sale on 15th April (as we reported earlier this month). With the progress made with the certification programme, this has been moved up to the 29th of March – the start of the Northern Summer Timetable.
As such, Business Class on the Boeing 787-9 can be booked (except for the seats in row 2) for flights from the end of March and for Easter holiday travel.
At least ten Dreamliners are expected to be in service from Frankfurt by then. With 25 Allegris seats available for booking starting today, over 200 additional business class seats in the state-of-the-art and successful Allegris class will go on sale every day.
Routes
From Frankfurt, the Lufthansa Allegris cabin will fly to Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Cape Town, Shanghai, Hyderabad, and Hong Kong at the start of the summer flight schedule.
From June, New York JFK, and Los Angeles will join the party featuring the new cabin.
In July, flights to Delhi will see the cabin in the air.
In addition, Boeing 787-9 aircraft Dreamliner will also fly to Toronto, Montréal, Lagos, and Malabo, initially with some flights featuring Allegris and others without. Thus, you will need to check the seat maps to work out what cabin your flight have.
Progress
My commentary in the last post still stands, even after this acceleration of the certification programme.
However, with the extra capacity released, there are 200 more passengers who can travel on business class tickets and add further capacity on these routes (especially for those who have booked flights in lower classes because of lower seat availability.
Just remember, Lufthansa has five options for Allegris Business class seats (and most are chargeable upsells). They are:
- Suite
- Privacy Seat
- Extra Space Seat
- Extra Long Bed Seat
- Classic Business Seat
It is progress – that is a crucial step in the Allegris programme.
