It seems that Vereinigung Cockpit union is in the mood to have a pop at Lufthansa, with it calling out its members on strike on Monday and Tuesday, 13th and 14th April 2026.
This will impact operations by Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cityline from 00:01 am on Monday (22:01 UTC on Sunday) through to 23:59 on Tuesday. For those flying Eurowings, you’ll get a shorter one-day strike affecting all flights departing from German airports between 00:01 and 23:59 on April 13, 2026.
Due to the current situation in the Middle East, flights operated by Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Lufthansa CityLine from Germany to the following destinations are exempt from the strike: Azerbaijan, Egypt, Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Yemen, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Lufthansa’s rebooking options
If you are affected by flight cancellations or rebookings, the airlines will proactively inform you by email by Sunday morning, 12th April 2026, about the current situation.
Passengers holding tickets from Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, Brussels Airlines or Air Dolomiti, issued on or before 11th April 2026, and booked on Lufthansa-operated flights (including Lufthansa CityLine) on 13th and 14th April 2026, may:
- Rebook free of charge to another Lufthansa Group flight between 11th and 21st April 2026 via the Lufthansa Help Centre, or
- Request a refund for their ticket until 13th April 2026 via the Help & Contact Centre
In the event of a cancellation, Lufthansa will rebook you free of charge and usually automatically to another flight and inform you via your mobile phone number. If you do not receive a message from Lufthansa, please check the current status of your booking. Here, you can also adjust the rebooking if required.
Alternatively, you can also use the Lufthansa Chat Assistant.
Or switch to Deutsche Bahn
If your flight has been cancelled and no alternative flight is available, you can exchange your ticket for a Deutsche Bahn train ticket via the airline’s Good for Train service.
The Chaos will continue until morale improves. Or the unions and Lufthansa talk.
Reeling from the UfO Union’s strike on Friday, it seems that Lufthansa is taking more punishment as the unions express their anger at the airline’s management when it comes to pension discussions. e.
Until one side budges, or they want to sit down and talk frankly, expect further action along the line.
Because there’s nothing like a Lufthansa strike to foul up a journey
As usual, plan ahead.
