It seems that there's going to be some competition on London and Philadelphia as a new competitor moves in the route - currently dominated by US Airways/American Airlines and British Airways. And that new carrier... is Delta. A Delta 767-300ER landing at Dublin Airport - Image, Economy Class and Beyond Delta will operate the route daily from 7th April 2015, based … [Read more...]

Economy Class and Beyond

It's been a bit quiet at Economy Class and Beyond as I've spent the week getting ready and delivering presentations at Frequent Traveler University this weekend... but here's what I've covered this week: In airline news, Etihad got the approval by the European Commission to take over Alitalia. In new purchases, Delta has been busy, and turned to Airbus for its next … [Read more...]

American Airlines/US Airways A330-200. Image, Economy Class and Beyond.

It's Sunday again, and it must be time for some more airplane art. This week, sitting in the sun on a Frankfurt morning is an American Airlines Airbus A330-200 awaiting its next duty. Hold it? An American Airlines A330-200? As the merger continues, the new American is painting up its planes into the "new" American Airlines livery. This is but one of … [Read more...]

23/11/2014 by Kevincm

Good evening from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport where I'm preparing to head home after a long, but fruitful FTU in Amsterdam this year. Please do not throw these at presenters.... Whilst not as big as the American FTU's, there were lots of chances attendees to talk to speakers, speakers to answer questions and for apples, coffee and Heineken. Well, we are in The … [Read more...]

LH953 Lack of Safety

Good morning from Frankfurt Airport.. Where I'm rather concerned about a major carrier today after the performance they put in. That carrier's in question: Lufthansa. We've all done boarding producers in the past - get on the plane, stow luggage, find seat, and sit in safety for the next few hours. And this is what I was expecting aboard LH953 from Birmingham to … [Read more...]

UK24: A Visualisation of UK Air Traffic

20/11/2014 by Kevincm

When flying into the UK and flying into one of the major hubs (such as Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester), it's not unusual to be put into a stack or seemingly go around the houses until you reach your destination. NATS have released previous visualisations of the traffic that flies into and above the UK - and have provided a tour of the United Kingdom - and what goes on during … [Read more...]
