As we all remember, Virgin Atlantic moaned its way through the sale of BMI to IAG. Part of the deal was that IAG had to disperse 14 pairs of slots of Heathrow to buy BMI. Earlier this year, Sector Aviation Holdings successfully purchased BMI Regional from IAG as part of the breakup of British Midland Airways. International Airlines Group has secured the clearances to purchase British Midland Airways from Lufthansa According to Reuters, the 14 slots that were given up were the key to complete the purchase.
