Cabin safety? The crew of LH953 have heard of it.

21/11/2014 by Kevincm

Good morning from Frankfurt Airport.. Where I’m rather concerned about a major carrier today after the performance they put in.

That carrier’s in question: Lufthansa.

We’ve all done boarding producers in the past – get on the plane, stow luggage, find seat, and sit in safety for the next few hours.

And this is what I was expecting aboard LH953 from Birmingham to Frankfurt this morning (21st November 2014).

Apparently the captain didn’t want to do that today – or the crew miscommunicated her we’re ready for pushback.

Why? The pushed back on time – except THERE WERE PASSENGERS STANDING IN THE AISLE WHEN THE PLANE WAS PUSHING BACK.

LH953 Lack of Safety

YES. THIS HAPPENED DURING PUSHBACK AND TAXI.

On top of that rich vein, not many of the overhead bins were secure, so whilst the plane was preparing to taxi the cabin wasn’t secure.

I know slots and timings are tight on European connections… But this was Downright dangerous.

Nonstop you? How about stopping and ensuring we’re safe to go first???

So how many people met their tragic fate or were at least hospitalized after this horrendous disregard for human life?

Thankfully none, but some did fall towards the galley. There’s a reason why airlines have people seatbelted before pushback…

It’s obvious they needed to hand out pacifiers for some passengers.

I’ve experienced this before on LH. To be honest, I don’t consider the motion of the plane pushing back to be any different than riding on a train.

Maybe this will encourage folks to put their bags up and sit the hell down. Too many people wander towards their seat aimlessly, then stare at bins as if they’re trying to use the force to levitate the bag into place or they’re waiting for someone else to put it up for them.

Board. Walk with purpose to your seat. Stow your bag. Sit down and get out of the way. Pretty simple.

LH seems to be taking in flight safety not so serious anymore. I was on a FRA-EZE flight earlier this year where the FA’s allowed passengers to pile up hand luggage in the emergency exit. Yes, seriously…

Anyway, talking about taxiing and passengers standing. I always love it when a plane has to stand outside of its parking position, while the FA or the captain announces to please sit down and still passengers start to jump up, opening the overhead bins and grabbing their stuff. Hilarious to see them fall down while suddenly the plane starts moving again. Karma’s a bitch, right? Even better when the captain decides to make a hard break at the correct position at the gate: it really shows why you need to keep seated with the seat belt on and the overhead bins closed. And this keeps on going, no matter how much people and stuff get damaged. And why? You’re not getting a second earlier out of the plane compared to waiting until the seat belt sign is switched off…
