If you’ve worn glasses in your life – you will knock the sinking feeling when your hear a nasty crack… the sound of your glasses frame cracking.
And it does help to take them off before you fall asleep… but life sometimes doesn’t play that way as we all well know.
And whilst that’s inconvenient to say the least when you’re at home (least of all – costly… have you seen the prices of glasses these days?)… it becomes more than embarrassing when on the road and you’re going to meetings or press conferences.
So what do you do? For me – I was running out of options on the first day of Aircraft Interiors Expo – with a 9am press conference at Airbus, I could run the risk of trying to get something at Edeka (a German Supermarket), walk around half blind… or pray my hotel had something – be it glue or tape.
Thankfully as I was heading out of the hotel… I noticed a roll of Scotch magic tape…

With a bit of positioning and careful wrapping, a miracle happened. My glasses became useable again thanks to Scotch Magic Tape – which is a bit more less messy than traditionally sticky-tape.
The arm is a lot more flexible than I’d like it to be (in fact, I’ve left it as is for a few days as I’ve got an opticians appointment to get a new lens prescription and pay for new glasses), but it’s better than nothing.
Whilst glue would be preferable, you would be surprised how much pressure a pair of glasses are would take during the day.
Imperfection is better than nothing some days, and this is a case of imperfection verses not being able to see. And being able to see things is a big thing in my world.
And as for getting away with it? Nothing that an embarrassed laugh can’t fix…
