Air Algérie becomes the latest A330neo operator

14/11/2025 by Kevincm

Air Algérie has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330neo – an A330-900neo.

The move marks a major point in the modernisation of the airline’s long-haul fleet and in its long-standing partnership with Airbus. The A330-900 will play a role in Air Algérie’s expansion plans from Algiers, enabling the launch of new transatlantic and Asian routes.

Air Algérie is set to receive 7 additional A330neo and will become the largest operator of the aircraft type in Africa, bringing its fleet to eight. The airline currently operates eight Airbus A330-200 aircraft in its long-haul operation.

Like all A330neo aircraft, they will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

In this sense, Air Algérie will be expanding capacity too, with the airline selecting a three-class cabin layout with 18 full-flat seats in Business, 24 in Premium Economy and 266 in Economy class (compared to 263 seats in its current A330-200).

Like all A330neos, the aircraft will feature the Airspace cabin with core features including individual space, enlarged overhead bins, a new lighting system and access to the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

Expansion ahead

With the airline having larger aircraft that can fly longer range routes, this will open up new flows for Air Algérie to serve, be it Africa, Asia or the North East Coast of the USA, without any payload restrictions, opening up a lot of possibilities for the airline as it seeks to grow, especily as it seeks to reenforce operations and look towards launching a route to China, whilst boosting its network through the recent codeshare it signed with Qatar Airways.

Expansion is on the horizon, as the airline continues to modernise its fleet.
