The new Cathay Pacific Heathrow Lounge – A quick look

03/12/2016 by Kevincm

Time for something different as I look at the brand new Cathay Pacific Lounge at Heathrow Airport.

Getting in

a logo on a walla sign with a letter on it
There is a lift to the lounge as it is on to upper floor. Except on the day I visited, the lifts weren’t working as intended, and it took the Cathay Pacific ground staff time to figure out what was going on. A bit of a service failure there.

Check-in

Check-in was handled with profuse apologies

The lounge is split into two – a first class section and a business class section. I was allocated the use of the business class section.

So one of the main features that dominates the lounge is the noodle and dim sum bar a restaurant with a long counter and black tile walls

There’s also causal dining too a table with a plant in a pota group of silver pots on a shelfa food in a containera refrigerator with food on shelvesa glass jar with liquid in it

A manned bar is offered too. A nice touch. And yes, they do have champagne behind the bar – you just have to ask.

There’s also plenty of seating options – some of which face put onto the tarmac

There are nice little touches too – such as a power draw:

a bowl of food on a table

I also got to try a noddle dish or two (I was dining with another tier point runner). Here’s what’s on offer:

I went for the DanDan noodles. My new friend went for a veggie option that was good.

And as for the DanDan noodles excellently done

Overall:

there are some rough edges in this lounge, but as it has been soft-launched – I’ll let them slide for now.

I’ll be interested in how this lounge is performing a month down the line… and I intend to pay another visit in January…
