So muggins decided to try to ticket a flight on United for a little trip to Atlanta.
Nothing overly magically difficult (Frankfurt – Atlanta – London)… until it comes to ticketing the thing.
United.com was showing this ticket for $415. Unitedairlines.co.uk (which is the same site with a UK interface) was charging £387 for the same fare.
So of course, I wander off to united.com to ticket. And since I don’t have a US Credit card, I can’t ticket it. The only place I can ticket is allegedy on unitedairlines.co.uk.
Bolderdash. Pay and extra £100 after currency conversion? I think not. Even the crappy US Airways website can handle international credit cards without a thought.
So I grumbled and fiddled with Orbitz… and got the fare for $425 in the end.
Not an impressive show United – by any stretch of the imagination – and not that difficult to ticket via a 3rd party – even if you can’t ticket it…
Next up in my firing line: Lufthansa – if you don’t pay by PayPal, it’s an extra £4……
