One of the things some frequent fliers like to do is “trick” or try to legally avoid paying certain fees.
Like all good wheezes, you needed to have a brain and the ability to use it when calculating your fare, ticket, and if you’d be able to make it work.
Airfarewatchdog.com (and they’re not getting a link – because they’re a bunch of idiots) it seems have been skimming sites again for information, and then published it on their website – without any credit to the authors.
What was a loophole for stripping away some charges for a few, was blown wide open with world+dog chasing after it, – of course it only took a few hours for the airlines to wake up and close the holes.
Which of course has lead to a major outbust on Flyertalk.com and elsewhere on the interwebs. The fact is the Fuel Dump trick is gone for now – all because of one outlet opening their gob when it wasn’t welcome.
Whilst that useful hole has gone, UK users need not panic yet. Air Passenger Duty is due to shoot (and I mean shoot) up on the 1st November 2010, so we’ll need to develop our own “tricks” to avoid paying HM Government taxes.
Here’s a few hints: Separate Itineraries, Plan layover time and this wonderful thing call the EU.
I’ll scribble more about this after 1st November…
