(I was going to write a bit on BA and IB merging up, as well as the UA and US mating dance, but it’s going to have to wait for a bit…)
No doubt you’ve been round the interwebs and seen an entry on View from the Wing and Lucky’s One Mile at a Time about a free Star Silver with 2000 miles to boot with BMI (and I’m not linking up the post – and there’s a very good reason for once).
There are quiet a few of these around (if you’re looking carefully) that BMI are targeting to various groups (and named lists) with various signup bonuses.
However, Donnington Hall has been clamping down recently on people who to be honest have been taking the mickey, and there have been odd results with miles being forfeited, accounts closed due to what BMI sees to be fraud (eg, opening 7 accounts for a family, taking all the bonus miles and cashing them in for a ticket).
The fact is now with the targeted promotions, and miles on promotions are normally non-transferable.
If you’re in one of these organisations, then great – take advantage – it’s a great offer. If you’re not, you’re going to run the risk of loosing the miles, loosing any credited miles, loosing the status and the account.
Let’s be careful out there!
