It seem Irish Airspace is once again under attack by that pesky volcano.
From 04/05/2010, Irish Airspace will be closed to aircraft taking off or landing from 07:00BST to 13:00BST.
The Irish Aviation Authority have looked at the weather, and to quote them:
“Ireland falls within the predicted area of ash concentrations”
However, flights flying over Ireland will not be hit.
The IAA Care hopeful that flight restrictions could be eased later on Tuesday.
“We are quite optimistic that it will dissipate and we are quite optimistic for Dublin and for Shannon tomorrow afternoon but we will make a reassessment for that in the morning.”
In addition airspace in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides has been closed since 18:00BST today – meaning flights to and from Barra and Benbecula are unable to operate.
The CAA Hhas indicated there are no other restrictions in place and the situation will be reviewed overnight.
My advice: sit tight. This could get fun very quickly…
