Security at the airport – no, not Security Theatre, but Computer Security….

09/12/2010 by Kevincm

We all go through airport security time and a again thinking what security theatre nonsense we are going to have to put up with today.

However for those of you who use Internet Kisoks, or computers left in lounges for your use, are you practicing safe computing?

The chances are – not.

Paul Ducklin of Sophos has written an excellent artricle on what he found on one Mac in a Qantas lounge. It may surprise you what you leave behind.

My advice is simple – either take your own laptop and use trusted WiFi connections, or stick to very generalised browsing only. Don’t rely on these computers to connect to corporate LANs safely as to be honest, you don’t know what the last person did before you logged on.

A reasonable read. Highly recommded.
