British Airways seem to be feeling the pinch, and withdrawing Anytime Access access – where you could access a BA lounge when not flying on BA flight – from BA Executive Club Golds.
This started in the 90’s and has been operating for some time, but BA cites with the growth of OneWorld and other partners, it no longer needs to offer this to anyone.
Therefore as of 17th June 2011, Anytime Access is withdrawn.
Access is now restricted to:
- When travelling on any British Airways operated flight
- When travelling on any British Airways codeshare flight operated by another airline
- When travelling on any oneworld airline operating from the same terminal as British Airways
Of course, there is a full fight breaking out, readable on the BA Flyertalk thread. It seems that either there has been major abuse of the facility – or it’s costing to much.
Whatever happens, that’s another benefit gone…
