Japan Airlines has formally confirmed that Boeing is due to deliver their first Dreamliner to the group on the 25th March 2012.
More details of the plane have been revealed – in particular – the seating:
- Business Class: 42 in a 2-2-2 layout – The JAL Shell Flat Neo seats configured ina 60.2-inch pitch, a 21.3-inch width, 171 degree recline and a 15.4-inch IFE touch screen.
- Economy Class: 144 seats in 2-4-2 layout, with 31.1-inch pitch, 18.5-inch width and a 10.6-inch IFE touch screen.
This will also be the first 787 powered by the General Electric GEnx-1B engines (as opposed to the Rolls Royce Trents powering ANA’s 787s)
With Boston being JAL’s first 787 route, announcements have been made on where you’ll find the 787 in the future. The lucky cities are:
- Helsinki (March 2013)
- San Diego (March 2013)
Already in JAL’s 787 list are:
- Beijing
- Moscow
- New Delhi
- Singapore
Dates to be confirmed and of course – subject to Boeing delivering 787 frames – something they’ve had trouble with recently.
