Transaero formally commits to 4 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

10/04/2012 by Kevincm

Transaero of Russia has confirmed and placed a firm order for four Boeing 787 Dreamliners.  The airline has opted for the baseline model of the aircraft – the 787-8.

Alexander Pleshakov (Transaero’s Board Chairman) states the planes will be used for both Russian domestic routes and international services.

Transaero is slotting in these birds to replace the existing Boeing 767 fleet, and is planning to have the seating configured with 14 business class seats and  244 economy seats.

The airline has been a busy bee, inking tentative orders for the Boeing 787’s ,Boeing 747-8i’s, and even the Airbus A380.  There is also a firm order for eight Airbus A320NEO’s in the pipeline.
Alexander Pleshakov said the first flight of the 787 in Transaero colours will be in March 2014.

We’ll see on that front depending how Boeing gets on with the production of the aircraft…
