Day Two of the Farnborough 2012 has flow – so let’s see what big news has hit
- The big headline of the day goes to Cathay Pacific who have signed for 26 of the re-versioned Airbus A350-1000 – with Cathay ordering 10 on top of the original 16 A350-1000’s ordered. This makes Cathay Pacific the largest planned operator of the A350-1000 which will fly up to 8,400nm with the revamped model. How it performs… is going to be the question.
- Meanwhile Emirates aren’t impressed with the A350-1000, and is pushing Boeing towards the 777X, thinking the A350-1000 will fall short still. Guess we’ll see when they start flying…
- GECAS has tentatively committed to order 75 Boeing 737 Maxs and 25 737-800s.
- ALAFCO – a lessor based out Kuwait has committed to order 20 Boeing 737 Max 8s. They also have outstanding orders for 85 Airbus A320neos, for 8 787-8s. They currently operate six 737-800s
- Air Baltic have signed a Letter of Intent for up to 20 Bombardier CS300, with 10 firm and purchase rights for 10 more. Planned delivery subject to the Letter of Intent turning in to an order should begin in Q1 2015.
- Drukair – Bhutan’s national airline has signed a firm order for a singular Airbus A319, increasing its fleet to three aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding to an order.
- Interjet of Mexico has converted 5 options of it Sukhoi Superjet 100 order into firm orders, bringing up the order from Interjet into order to 20 aircraft. For those of you in the Americas, you can expect the first Mexican Sukhoi Superjet 100 to turn up around August time when it is handed over.
That’s it for today – more from Day Three tomorrow!
