Well the 2nd round of strike action by the UFO union is under way with Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich all hit this time with cancellations, running at the following times:
- 05:00 to 13:00 CET at Berlin-Tegel,
- 06:00 to 14:00 CET at Frankfurt
- 13:00CET to 00:00+1CET (midnight Wednesday) at Munich airport
Again, the domestic programme is hit hard, whilst the short haul and medium haul programmes are hit too.For long haul travellers, some services from/to Munich (Chicago, New Delhi, Los Angeles, Washington-Dulles, Dubai) and Frankfurt (Dallas Fort-Worth, New York, Tel Aviv) hit too.
Over 300 flights have been affected so far.
The strike over pay and outsourcing between the UFO Union and Lufthansa seems to be getting bitter, and I can’t see this ending soon sadly until both sides see sense.
Rebooking options are now open, with all passengers with Lufthansa tickets issued before 5 September 2012 for Lufthansa operated flights (even if not cancelled) departing before Wednesday, 5 September 2012, 11:59 p.m. are entitled to one rebooking onto alternate flights by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines or Swiss free of charge. New travel must occur before 30 November 2012. The origin and destination cannot be changed.
For up to date information (including rebooking, swapping to a DB service if in Germany), head to the strike page on the Lufthansa web site
And unless both sides agree to talk and someone gives way… this won’t be over for some time sadly.
