More CRJ-200’s heading to American Eagle with Skywest and Expressjet

13/09/2012 by Kevincm

American Eagle is buying extra capacity for flying in from Skywest Airlines and Express Jet.

A total of 23 aircraft will be flying in American Eagle colours, with:

  • 11 operated by ExpressJet
  • 12 operated by SkyWest

Alas, for lovers of comfort may wish to avoid these flights as they will be operated by Bombardier CRJ-200’s which (I’m being generous here) are not my first choice of aircraft… or any choice of aircraft for that matter due to the seat widths and comparably tight cabin compared to some regional jets.

The aircraft were previously operating for Delta – so compared to some birds operated by other regional carriers these should be in relatively good condition.

The aircraft will operate for American Eagle from 15th November operating out of Los Angeles and Dallas Fort Worth airports on regional legs with a planned capacity purchase agreement for 4 years.

They could had at least specified better aircraft than CRJ-200’s… Even the -700’s are approaching acceptable. Embaer E-jets would be better… But I’m sure that’s outside Anerican Eagle’s scope clause….
